The All Birds Barcoding Initiative (ABBI) is another Barcode of Life Initiative (BOLI) campaign site that uses many of the core technologies developed on other sites. The design brief was simple, make the information delivery for ABBI as clear and as usable as possible. To achieve this a simple blog type layout was established that makes full use of charismatic bird species in the masthead.
As with other BOLI sites ABBI benefits from the XML feeds from BOLINFONET to furnish it with relevant content such as the latest news, upcoming meetings and publications. The site will also house a campaign progress explorer showing the status of the campaign to barcode the world's bird species. ABBI will also make use of AJAX features such as the functioning taxonomic checklist, and people popups.
As with all Glossopteris produced websites, ABBI is fully XHTML compliant with external CSS and gracefully degrading javascript behaviours.
